Evidence and Charges in the Chauvin Trial

In a jury trial, the burden of proof falls on the prosecution (the State) to convince the jury beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty of the alleged crime. They must use evidence and arguments to make their case.
The Defense's case for Derek Chauvin rests on a lot of problematic medical fallacies, including the idea of excited delirium and an incorrect understanding of the ways that opioids impact the body.
  • Read our conversation with Dr. Susan Hasti, a faculty physician at Hennepin County Medical Center, who explains “Opioids depress the will to breathe, which is totally counter to what George Floyd was doing. Any doctor on the planet can give you that information.”

Former Minneapolis police officers Thao, Lane, and Keung are charged with aiding and abetting George Floyd's murder. For more on that charge, check out our Youtube video -->
